Robert Russell Malone, 84, Crystal Lake, IL, died on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at his home of 41 years. Robert was born April 1, 1932 in Lancaster, WI to Russell and Frances (Westemeier). Robert is one of 5 children - Rosemary (Gerry) Pickle, William (Doris) Malone, Patrick (late-Jean) Malone and the late Donald Malone. Robert attended Loras Academy in Dubuque, Iowa and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy (1951-1954), proudly serving onboard the USS Randolph and USS Valley Forge during the Korean War. Robert Russell Malone, 84, Crystal Lake, IL, died on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at his home of 41 years. Robert was born April 1, 1932 in Lancaster, WI to Russell and Frances (Westemeier). Robert is one of 5 children - Rosemary (Gerry) Pickle, William (Doris) Malone, Patrick (late-Jean) Malone and the late Donald Malone. Robert attended Loras Academy in Dubuque, Iowa and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy (1951-1954), proudly serving onboard the USS Randolph and USS Valley Forge during the Korean War. Robert married the love of his life, Rose Ann Sheeley, on June 1, 1957 in Dubuque, Iowa. Robert and Rose Ann raised seven children - Dan Malone, Marianne (Dale) Kottke, Catherine (Dan) O'Brien, Dennis (Amy) Malone, the late James Malone, Patrick Malone and Michele (Robert) Blasinski. Robert and the late Rose Ann have the additional legacy of 10 grandchildren. Robert was a long time devoted member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, serving various roles and was a member of the order of the Knights of Columbus, in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Robert was employed by Eutectic Corporation (Lucerne, Switzerland) from Sales Representative to Senior - Level Executive for over 36 years. Robert was an active and engaged husband, brother, son, father and grandfather. Robert loved the water - boating all of his life, was an avid water skier, bicycled with his wife, loved to drive, enjoyed westerns and war movies and enjoyed his yard work and the outdoors. Robert truly epitomized the role of a loving Father and loving Husband, showing unwavering dedication, love, strength and support for his entire family.
A memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL on Friday, March 17, 2017. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local St. Jude Hospital, as Robert and Rose Ann were strong advocates of this institution.
